This past week, Hub101 hosted the Sustainable Fashion Festival, a vibrant event celebrating the intersection of innovation, community, and eco-conscious design. With three days of impactful sessions, workshops, and showcases, attendees walked away inspired to rethink fashion’s role in sustainability.
Day 1: Fireside Chat, Styling, and Mending
Fireside Chat with Bennett Ray
The festival kicked off with an insightful fireside chat featuring Bennett Ray from Patagonia’s advocacy team. Bennett shared how Patagonia champions sustainability through its mission-driven practices, offering attendees actionable insights on creating impact through business. The event also provided a fantastic opportunity for networking, with students and community members connecting over shared passions for environmental change.
Sustainable Fashion Styling Workshop with Charline Zeroual
Guests learned how to build professional capsule wardrobes, embrace minimalist styles, and curate their look with sustainable fashion tips from Charline Zeroual, a French personal stylist. A lively clothing swap added fun and a fresh way to upgrade wardrobes sustainably.
Beginner Mending Workshop with Monica Moran
The night concluded with hands-on learning as Monica Moran, a designer and seamstress, taught attendees how to repair their clothes. From sewing buttons to fixing hems, participants discovered that mending is not only practical but also creative and empowering.
Day 2: Turning Passion into Profit
Joey Pham, founder of Eorte, delivered an inspiring workshop on building a sustainable fashion business. Attendees learned about sourcing, marketing, and financial planning tailored to eco-conscious ventures. Joey’s unique story of transforming hotel linen waste into sustainable uniforms inspired budding entrepreneurs to refine their ideas and take actionable steps toward their goals.
Day 3: Fashion Showcase and Keynote
The festival culminated with a Sustainable Fashion Showcase that transformed Hub101 into a stylish and inspiring venue. Guests explored sustainable brands, shopped curated collections, and mingled over Mendocino Farms catering.
The space buzzed with energy as attendees explored vendor tables showcasing unique sustainable products, including cork purses, hand-sewn quilts, eco-conscious jewelry, and more.
The highlight of the evening was a keynote by Chipper Bro Bell, a Patagonia veteran and B-Corp advocate. Chipper shared how businesses can live their brand by defining mission, values, and purpose to create real impact for the planet.
The night ended with a runway show featuring eco-friendly designs from local designers and curated looks from Buffalo Exchange, leaving everyone inspired to embrace sustainable fashion in their lives.
